NCP umbrella based by Sharad Pawar releases actor Swara Bhaskar’s husband Fahad Ahmad as his candidature for Anushakti Nagar in the upcoming elections. It is constituent of the Mumbai South Central Lok Sabha constituency. Earlier in the day, Ahmad who was till recently associated with the Samajwadi Party (SP) formally crossed over to the NCP-SP combine. Earlier, Anushakti Nagar was represented by Nawab Malik, who achieved victory in 2019, and used to represent the constituency in earlier years too; in 2009 and 2014.
NCP-SCP leader Jayant Patil said this, he said, ‘Swara Bhaskar’s husband Fahad Ahmad, SP leader has joined the NCP-SCP alliance. He has been-shifted from the Anushakti Nagar seat where he was contesting against Sana Malik of NCP (Ajit Pawar).” According to Patil, Ahmad is a young educated Muslim activist with an experience in social activism. Patil also said that the NCP and SP alliance is to give such leaders a political platform, because there are so many people who want better representation. He said that through negotiation with the SP, Ahmad shifted to NCP-SP and then offered the ticket for Anushakti Nagar.
Saying thank you, Fahad Ahmad added that a socialist leader such as Sharad Pawar has come forward to support the cause. I am grateful for the chance and for Akhilesh Yadav agreeing to endorse my campaign.” Ahmad sought to assure the party that he would work for the interest of his people as well as in the achievement of the part’s objectives in the constituency.
This shift of strategy by NCP-SP shows its intention of initiating the recruitment of young leaders into its team in order to appeal to the youthful vote and also from other progressive movements.
