There is a recent case from Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh, where a 41 year man, named Sanjay Patidar, killed his live-in partner, Pratibha Patidar in March 2023 and then, he hid her dead body in the refrigerator for about ten months. The actual offence came to light on Friday, after the tenants in the rented house were affected by bad odor coming from the house.

Sanjay had moved out in June, 2023, but left the refrigerator locked in the house. The body was of a male and it was in its decomposed state by the time Balveer Rajput, one of the tenants of the house, opened the house. Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlot said that they found the body of the victim with his hands tied.

Police investigation showed that both Sanjay and Pratibha had been living together as lovers for five years. According to the story, both had faked marital relationship after shifting to Dewas. However, the friendly relationship between them started fading in January,2024 after Pratibha requested to be married. To avoid arrest Sanjay, with the help of the co-accused, strangulated Pratibha in March, 2004 and hid the body.

Some neighbours said that they have not seen Pratibha since January 2023. Sanjay has been arrested in Ujjain and the other person involved in the crime is still on the run.

The gruesome discovery has left the local community in shock. Authorities are conducting further investigations to gather evidence and ensure justice for the victim.
