Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again did very well during the opening weekend: the movie raked in ₹43.50 crore on Friday and ₹41.50 crore from Saturday, making it a formidable successor to the Diwali releases. Trade trackers eagerly are waiting for Monday figures as to see whether the movie is capable of holding the audience after holiday high.
The fact that the show was cast with such high profile celebrities has gone far in launching it. Ajay Devgn reprises his role of the lead character Inasha, with special appearances by the other shinning stars in Shetty’s Cop Universe including Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar. But that’s not all, Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff have signed in to the franchise while Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor have also became part of it. Audience excitement has also been built up by a cameo appearance of another Bollywood figure Salman Khan from Bollywood; fans from the major markets have been drawn to catch a glimpse of their favourite star.
Singham Again collected ₹70 crore in the domestic market in two days and ₹101 crore worldwide according to Sacnilk. If it sustains its pace, the film should gross over ₹200 cr internationally by Monday, which would be quite good for Shetty’s latest high octane film. Afilliates have reported high occupancy even crossing 76 % on Friday evening and varied interest in the theaters right from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Pune, and Jaipur.
As far as Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is concerned there is some competition for Singham Again at the box office but still Singham Again dominates the talk. The film has gone to customers in over 2000 screens a beautiful sign of penetration and growth having healthy subsidiaries in areas like North America and the UK.
What fate Singham Again has in store in the coming week will decide its box office luck, whether Shetty’s formula of high octane will continue or peter off due to usual post-festival drop.
