The National Investigation Agency has put out a reward of Rs 10 lakh for the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi – who is the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi – in two outstanding cases of 2022. He is accused of having links to the shooting outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan residence that was earlier this year and is involved in several other investigations linked to political activities in Mumbai, as per ANI.
The NIA now have increased intensity to arrest Anmol Bishnoi, the agency encouraged people to give any information on him. With links to several cases of criminal conduct, Bishnoi is seen as a prominent member of these organisations; arrest of this suspect is hoped to produce specific receipts on the illegal activities in the area. This step also find symmetry with the operational plan of the NIA to counter organized crime and tangle with its related structures.
This comes after conducting a major operation that NIA conducted about nine months ago. During this one-year period, NIA officials listed the arrest of smuggling syndicates and recovered prohibited firearms, ammunition, currency, documents, and gadgets in different regions. This was under an operation involving prohibited groups under the bench that comprises Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and the Lawrence Bishnoi Crime Syndicate.
The NIA, in January this year, conducted raids in 32 places spread across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Chandigarh. These raids resulted in seizure of two pistols, bullets, Rs.4, 60,000 in cash and some documents and electronic devices. The raids were linked to terror operations by BKI as well as other terror-gangster modules spread in right across India. Based on NIA’s findings there exists linkages of cross-border smuggling of arms, explosives and other terror related paraphernalia, with active participation of terror-state and its syndicate wing involving in bombings, targeted killings, extortions and financing terrorist operations in several types of theater.
