This time, Union Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri recently attacked Congress party for Fooling Indian People via Social Media saying Congress follows the policy of LIES, FAKE FIGURES & FAKE DATA. Puri further claimed that the Modi led NDA government at the center is committed to the reliability of the promises as against Congress ‘the crisis of the credibility. He stated that this is why the Congress leaders make statements that are not checked with facts, and create a “delusional view” of things.
Puri said this on micro blogging site X (formerly Twitter) that employment in India has risen by nearly 36% with as many as 170 million jobs created in the sectors between 2016-17 and 2022-23. He also stressed that based on the current estimates, India is likely to become the third-largest economy by moving from the 11th largest economy in 2014. The minister also informed that the Indian economy has averaged over 6.5 % of the GDP and the youngsters are being provided with direct and indirect employment.
Focusing on employment information, Puri highlighted that the unemployment rate declined to 3.2 per cent in the 2022-23. Manufacturing and service sectors are gradually replacing agricultural sector as major employment generator, however more than 45% people are still into agricultural activities. Using the PLFS data, Puri said that the youth unemployment rate has lowered from 17.8 per cent in 2017-18 to 10 per cent in 2022-23 while EPFO touched 13.15 lakh subscribers, 132.5 lakh subscribers in 2024. The gig economy is also growing with the estimate numbers showing that it will employ 2.35 crore workers by 2029-30.
Targeting Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Puri accused him of indulging in manipulations with ‘fake data’ and ‘is just holding his imploding party’. This exchange comes after Kharge said the BJP’s “Modi ki guarantee” is a “cruel joke”, and has led to the latest face-off between the BJP and Congress over committed in the Budget and unmet poll promises.
