Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has reacted and called for the sacking of Union Home Minister Amit Shah from the cabinet due to unfortunate comments about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. In an interview with media personnel, Kharge sought to know from Mr. Shah if that was his way of insulting Dr. Ambedkar to have made a statement in Parliament on December 18, 2024.

Kharge’s Ultimatum

In response, Kharge demanded Shah to publicly apologise for his words which she described as disgraceful. He said Modi should dismiss Shah by midnight, adding the failure to do so would amount to them insulting the memory of Ambedkar.

Threat of Protests

Kharge further threatened to bring shutdown across the country if Shah continues to remain in power. “People would not mind coming on the streets for the honor of Dr. Ambedkar,” he added.

Political Fallout

This demand has raised the levels of confrontation between Congress and the BJP to the next levels. During political campaigns, Kharge’s position is to find votes among the excluded and Ambedkarites.

Towards the 12th midnight, the nation remains at the edge of the seats waiting to see whether the PM Modi will respond or to increase the pressure on protests.
