Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) has backing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for Delhi Assembly elections a major take down for Congress. While both Congress and AAP represent the INDIA at the national level, they fighting it out in Delhi. Congress has declared its candidature for all the seventy assembly seats and AAP got a boost with the TMC’s blessings.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also used the message to thank Mamata Banerjee saying, “Thank you, Didi.” You have always stood with us during both, the good and the bad.” This change could lead to a crack in INDIA bloc since Mamata’s action is an attempt to counter the leadership claim of Congress within the grouping.
TMC has announced support to AAP in Delhi elections. I am personally grateful to Mamta Didi. Thank you Didi. U have always supported and blessed us in our good and bad times.

This led to Congress’ defeats in Haryana and Maharashtra according to TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee, he called on Congress to ‘shed its ego and accept Mamata Banerjee as the leader of the INDIA block’. The desired objectives have not been met because of Congress party failure. If we genuinely want to fight BJP & PM Narendra Modi, a visibly powerful leader is required,” Banerjee said.
Although there is a list of prominent leaders including Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP) and Lalu Prasad Yadav (RJD) have already declared that Mamata is the leader of the alliance. Here, Banerjee underlined how much Mamata has, stating that she is ‘’an MP for seven times’’ ‘’a former cabinet minister’’, ‘’a three times chief minister of West Bengal who defeated the CPM party’’.
As it is now vivid that the opposition alliance is less effective than it was in the past, therefore, the issue of the leadership comes into play. TMC squarely points to Mamata Banerjee as the only leader who can pull the bloc together to create a strong fight to BJP. But, to this suggestion, Congress has not agreed – which keeping of such feelings intact make one conclude that there are still hatrids that can affect HOUSE’s strategy in the coming general elections of the INDIA bloc.
