The BJP has named Parvesh Verma, who is a former MP and son of former Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh Verma, as its candidate from the New Delhi assembly constituency against AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal. The ruling BJP thanked Verma for his words and he promised to solve key problems in Delhi like pollution, cleaning the river Yamuna, and provision of jobs. He also opposed Kejriwal’s leadership in the government and accused it of embezzling funds through issues such as Sheesh Mahal.
In an interview to ANI, Verma vowed to set transparency and development if BJP wins the polls saying, “I want to take all the people of Delhi and take them to Sheesh Mahal and show them where their taxes went.” Announcing his vision of creating employment camps and formalising the offers with the offer letters for New Delhi people.
Verma’s toughest battle is against AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal and Congress candidate and Sheila Dikshit’s son, Sandeep Dikshit. The Election Commission has not announced the final schedule of the polls but elections are poised in February 2025.
On the other hand, through its Twitter handle, Kejriwal with AAP unleashed a rejoinder to the BJP’s campaign with posts on education, health and shelter. He blamed BJP of snail speed in housing and more particularly slum wipe out and dared Narendra Modi to give tangible development.
Officially kicking off the BJP’s campaign, Modi viciously attacked AAP, referring to it as “Aapda,” or disaster. He accused the party of poor governance, corruption and a prime minister who had failed to effectively and adequately address pollution policies and liquor policies. Even during the inaugural of 1,675 flats under the ‘Jaha Jhuggi Wahan Makaan’ scheme, Modi did not shy from clicking at Kejriwal on ‘Sheesh Mahal’ matter eariler this year which signals the major BJP operations in Delhi polls campaigning.
