Vicky Kaushal’s historical epic Chhaava is enjoying a phenomenal run at the box office, surpassing expectations and breaking records. The movie has now cleared the ₹300-crore mark in just 10 days of its release, making it one of the biggest Bollywood hits of 2023.
Despite facing stiff competition from the India vs Pakistan cricket match on Sunday, Chhaava managed to maintain its momentum and deliver one of the highest second-Sunday collections for a Hindi film. As per trade reports by Sacnilk, the film earned close to ₹108 crore during the second weekend, thereby becoming the second highest enr of a Hindi film during its second weekend.
A Box Office Sensation
Chhaava commenced with a great opening and it did ₹31 crore on the first day. It further started gaining momentum through the first weekend, with Saturday’s and Sunday’s collections being ₹37 crore and ₹48.5 crore, respectively. By the end of its first week, the film had amassed ₹219.25 crore.
The second weekend proved to be even more impressive, with Chhaava minting ₹44 crore on Saturday and ₹40 crore on Sunday, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹326.84 crore. The film’s success was also enhanced by the Shivaji Jayanti festivities in Maharashtra, which helped it hold its ground at the box office, even after a slight drop on Monday.
