Sukumar’s much-awaited film Pushpa 2: The movie involves Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil is now going strong in the theaters for nine days. The movie collected about ₹36.25 crore net in India by the second Friday and has taken its total collection to ₹ 762.1 crore net. The film made ₹725.8 crore in its opening week with ₹10.65 crore coming from the opening weekend and a whopping ₹164.25 crore opening on the first day.
While the collections decreased to 93.8 crore on the first Friday, it surged up over the weekend with 119.25 on Saturday and 141.05 on Sunday. It had even better weekdays’ show by gulping ₹64.45 crore on Monday and ₹51.55 crore on next, ₹43.35 crore on the third and ₹37.45 crore on the fourth.
The movie is now on track to upend the lifetime India tally of RRR, which earned ₹782.2 crore in its 10-week theatrical run. Across the world, Pushpa 2 has already created a record on its own as the film that broke the ₹1000 crore mark in the fastest manner, and it is now heading for ₹1100 crore. exclusing Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, it is one of the only two Indian films of 2024 to cross ₹1,000 crore mark. But the release of the film was marred by a loss of a lady at the venue, Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad while her son was grievously injured in a stampede. Allu Arjon was arrested on Friday on the charges of failure to provide adequate security provision though it emerged that the theatre had written to the police on the same a month earlier. The Telangana High Court later granted him four-week interim bail, celebrities such as Varun Dhawan, Nani and Rashmika Mandanna criticised this arrest.
