Allu Arjun’s much-anticipated sequel, Pushpa: Rule – Part 2, has set the box office on fire, Rs 174.9 crore net in India on first day by all language. On Day 2, the film collected an extra Rs 90.10 crore, pushing its two days tally to Rs 265 crore net for India, according to Sacnilk.
The film has clocked the Rs 400 crore gross, which speaks volume of how wide reaching the film has been. Besides, it also registered the highest opening day net of Rs 65.5 crore in Hindi film space, surpassing Jawan’s Rs 65.5 crore.
Sukumar has directed the film about a red sandalwood smuggler (Allu Arjun) named Pushpa Raj, who faces competition from the authorities, and his foes. This is Fahadh Faasil reprising as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, Rashmika Mandanna as Srivalli and Jagapati Babu bringing in something new in the narrative.
Pushpa 2 was loved for its performance and direction but its 3 hour 21 minute long runtime was not in favour. ‘There was a better chance for Pushpa 2 to impact in a more humanised and tighter construct,’ stated India Today.
Premiere of the film was marred by one fatality arising out of stampede at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre. To bring some order into the situation, the Telangana government has banned benefit shows for all the movies and we have to protect everyone from public safety.
Pushpa: The Rise, a 2021 release, was an all time worldwide phenomenon netting a colossal Rs 326.6 crore and putting Allu Arjun in National Award winning territory among Best Actors. The franchise is set to break more records than even with Pushpa 2.
On December 5, the film came out and it’s occupying the top positions extending its status as a blockbuster and a landmark in Indian cinema.
