Mahabharat actor Saurav Gurjar has strongly condemned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia over his controversial remarks on comedian Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. In a video message, Gurjar expressed his anger and openly threatened Allahbadia, whose comments have sparked widespread outrage.
In his statement, Gurjar criticized Ranveer’s obscene jokes and labeled them as unacceptable. He cannot, no matter what he did on the stage, be forgiven. If we do not take action against him for his behavior, then more people like him will say similar things. People like him have crossed all the limits. We all should initiate a legal action against those type of people who are tarnishing our society and religion by this kind of uttering so that it doesn’t ruin the next generation, he replied.
Expressing his frustration, the former WWE wrestler demanded strict action from the government. “The kind of things he has said, I demand the government to take strict action against him. I am very angry right now. I don’t want to use foul language. If I can just happen to meet him anywhere, no one is going to rescue him from me for what he did on the program, he said.
Gurjar’s video message quickly gained traction, with many social media users supporting his stance and criticizing Ranveer’s remarks. It began with the fallout following Ranveer, aka BeerBiceps, from his YouTube channel, their inappropriate comment in an episode of India’s Got Latent. The episode featured other prominent content creators, including Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija, aka The Rebel Kid.
Snippets of the program were posted online and were met with outrage from television viewers who considered the humor in the program obscene and vulgar. In one of the most controversial moments, Ranveer asked a contestant a highly offensive question, which triggered public outrage. He said, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”.
The inappropriate joke did not sit well with audiences or the authorities, resulting in multiple police complaints being filed against the content creator. As social media users and celebrities, run vi criticised Ranveer for going beyond ethical limits in the name of entertainment.
The backlash intensified as people called for accountability in digital content, emphasizing the responsibility of content creators to maintain a level of decency. Responding to the backlash, Ranveer Allahbadia offered a public apology for his comments. He stated in his plâmage that his joke was improper and that he apologized for having caused offense. “I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt hurt by my remarks. It was never my intention to disrespect anyone. I understand now that the joke was in poor taste, and I take full responsibility for it, he said.
Even with the apology, however, the controversy did not subside easily. This triggered a removal of all episode videos from YouTube. Nevertheless, the damage was already done, and ethics of boundaries in the field of comedy and digital content creation remained a hot debate.
The controversy also served to highlight critical debates concerning content moderation and responsibility in cyberspace. While some argued that jokes should be taken in a lighter spirit, others emphasized the need for responsible content creation, particularly when it reaches millions of viewers.
During the debate, it is unknown at this point whether Ranveer Allahbadia will be the target of any legal proceedings. On the other hand, due to Saurav Gurjar’s strict position, it has fuelled the debate, and most of the points agree that more stringent regulations need to be put in place so that situations like this do not occur again.
