Thandel Box Office Collection Day 4: Slows Down Following a Huge Weekend, Moves Fast Towards ₹40 Crore Mark.

The latest major film release from Telugu cinema, Thandel, is still on the box office charts, wallowing in some high and some low points. The film, which has been making waves for its gripping storyline and stellar star cast, started strong but witnessed a significant dip in collections on its first Monday. Despite the decline, Thandel is on track to cross the ₹40 crore mark at the domestic box office.

A Special Film for Naga Chaitanya

Thandel is of great personal meaning, for Naga Chaitanya, because it is his first film after his marriage to actress Sobhita Dhulipala in December 2024. The film, an adaptation of a true story, has enthralled audiences with the emotional resonance, the forcefulness of its performances, and the quality of the production. Sai Pallavi, Rao Ramesh, Divya Pillai, and Prakash Belawadi significantly contribute their characters adding to the movie’s appeal. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and backed by Geetha Arts, Thandel has managed to stay afloat in the market even in the presence of strong competition from other releases.

Thandel Box Office Collection: Day-Wise Breakdown

According to initial numbers from Sacnilk, Thandel generated an estimated ₹2.14 crore (nett) by 6 pm on its fourth day. The film experienced a massive drop in collections compared to its impressive Sunday earnings of ₹12.75 crore. Here’s a look at its daily performance so far:

  • Day 1 (Friday): ₹11.5 crore
  • Day 2 (Saturday): ₹12.1 crore (5.22% growth from Friday)
  • Day 3 (Sunday): ₹12.75 crore (5.37% growth from Saturday)
  • Day 4 (Monday): ₹2.14 crore (as of 6 PM)

The cumulative India nett collection is ₹38.49 crore till now. Only ₹1.51 crore is left to break the ₹40 crore mark, and in turn, the film will definitely make it by the evening.

Worldwide Box Office Performance

As of Sunday, Thandel has accumulated ₹52.60 crore worldwide. This includes:

  • India Gross Collection:  ₹42.60 crore
  • Overseas Collection:  ₹10 crore

These statistics demonstrate the film’s wide appeal, appealing particularly especially audiences beyond India and displaying a strong interest in this gripping drama.

Occupancy Rates and Audience Response

Thandel had a 62.07% Telugu occupancy rate on Day 4, indicating a steady but reduced flow of viewers. Though the weekend was a bumper week for cinemas, this was anticipated on Monday as there is an anticipated post-weekend slump (i.e. Nevertheless, the word-of-mouth or positive comments can be beneficial for the maintainability of the day-off performance.

What’s Next for Thandel?

The upcoming days will be crucial for Thandel. If it maintains a steady hold over the box office during the weekdays, it could aim for the ₹50 crore mark in the domestic market. Since it has Valentine’s Day promotions and other blockbuster films scheduled for the month of February, (the film should) retain its momentum to be a viable force in Telugu cinems.

Final Thoughts

Even with a Monday drop, Thandel has been a notable hit for Naga Chaitanya and the Indian film industry, Telugu cinema in particular. The film has exceeded expectations thanks to an exciting plot and a strong cast. As it inches closer to the ₹40 crore mark domestically and continues its strong global run, Thandel remains a film to watch out for in 2025.
