Joe Biden Reflects on 2024 Exit, Claims He Would Have Defeated Trump

Former President Joe Biden said he would have beaten Donald Trump if the latter decided to compete in the 2024 elections. Addressing the press in a conference Biden stated clearly that he was also stepping down because he wanted the Democratic party to be united especially with regard to his health and factionalisms.

“I believe that I would have defeated Trump or Joe Biden believes that Kamala could have defeated Trump.” His exit in July 2024 came after criticism after a poor debate showing as well as increasing doubts over his ability to govern. Despite this, Biden sought to continue reminding everyone that he had never staked his presidency on the ability to win the electoral college but on the ability to ensure a united party that will guarantee electoral victory.

“It was not about whether I could win again. It was about the process of consolidating the party,” he said. He also expressed his confidence in Kamala Harris, who as the vice president he said could aspire to the presidency again in the future. “That is something she will do in four years,” he said.

During the transition period before he handed power over to Donald Trump on January 20, Biden gave a nod to the public that he wouldn’t be retiring. Yet there was no going back on this decision, and so the man said, ‘I am not going to be out of sight out of mind, ‘meaning, he would not loose touch with civic issues after the presidency.

For the recent presidential pardon of his son Hunter Biden, Biden was very categorical in denying self-pardon or pardoning any of his family members saying ‘I’ve done nothing wrong’.

While Biden withdrawal was highly objectionable, what is clear is that he was willing to do that for the greater good of the Democratic party. In the speech as his term comes to a close, he emphasizes on the future of the party, and the country.
