This is a perfect setting for the Delhi Assembly election to take place in 2025 through which the leadership of the capital’s 70 assembly constituencies will be formed for the next five years. The electorate is concerned with what they consider core areas such as security, roads, health and education as they head for the polls.
Delhi has 70 assembly segments out of which 58 are for the general candidates and SC 12 seats for scheduled castes. National level political parties i.e AAP, BJP, and INC are going to contest in all the constituencies. Other participants include independent candidates and other minor regional political parties.

Past voter turnout trends reveal dynamic shifts in Delhi’s political landscape. In the 2013 elections, AAP made a strong debut with 29.49% of the votes, while BJP led with 33.07%. Congress, once dominant, saw its vote share decline to 24.55%.
The 2015 elections seem to have been significant to AAP as it garnered 54.34% votes, while BJP received 32.19% votes in the election. Congress’s decline process continued and got the vote share of only 9.65 percent.
In 2020 the incumbent increased its dominance with an even bigger margin having 53.57% of the votes. BJP has shown better results by securing 38.51% followed by Congress which drastically dropped to a poor 4.26%.
The elections scheduled to be held in 2025 are likely to be hotly contested as AAP continues to dominate the election, BJP attempts to capture the region and Congress tries to regain its lost power in the region. Delhi has a very diverse population and its electoral map will represent the changing political paradigm and chart the future course of the capital. It is the time for the candidates and the campaigns as the days to the elections draw near.
