Responding to the FIR against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on charges of fraud and forgery, AAP asked the INDIA bloc to throw the Congress out of the opposition. This development has come after a senior Congress leader Ajay Maken, came out in the open and criticized AAP and its chief Arvind Kejriwal. When they supported Kejriwal in 2013, Maken who is an important personality of Delhi Congress admitted dissatisfaction over this move saying that the Congress lost Delhi because of this. He also advised that AAP should no longer be supported by Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Maken further said that had congress not supported Kejriwal in 2013 the people of Delhi would have avoided the problems which they faced due to Kejriwal. He also said that Kejriwal was a “Farziwal” and also attacked him for his leadership.

Apart from Maken, the Congress has flagged a couple of AAP’s policies: free medical treatment or diagnosis and ₹2,100 per month to women subject to 2025 Delhi Assembly polls. These programmes have turned into the contentious issues in the allied contexts.

Sandeep Dikshit, son of ex-Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit also targeted Kejriwal wondering whether the latter was fit to become a CM. Dikshit, who is an AAP contestant challenging Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, criticized Kejriwal’s inability to sign files or even attend office under the conditions of the apex court in the excise policy case. Yadav himself contests Dikshit and Kejriwal personally for leadership and power in the AAP.

New Delhi is scheduled to conduct the Assembly elections in February 2025, which increases the political pressure in the ongoing discourse.
