There was a pathetic road mishap on Wednesday at the Bhimtal area in Nainital district of Uttarakhand where a roadways bus fell into a 100-meter-deep ditch in Dhampur killing several passengers. These remarks were confirmed by Prahlad Meena, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Nainital, who added that relief teams were immediately sent to the crash area.

An elaborate rescue ensued mobilizing the SDRF, police, and residents in an attempt at rescuing the trapped and injured. “On December 25, 2024, we came to know through the District Control Room about the bus accident that had happened near Bhimtal. “The SDRF teams from Post Nainital and Khairna were rush to the site,” said SSP Meena.

Coordinated Operation

Quick rescue operation was launched by a number of agencies who joined hands to offer the necessary help to the people who got injured and survey the scene. This self-effort demonstrates sense of purpose of the community in conforming to emergent incidents.

Authorities at the local level have lauded this as a coordinated effort where besides the fully fledged professional Societies and Disciples there was contractor from the general public who wanted to offer their support in the rescue mission.

Investigation and Updates

More about the reasons behind the accident still remain undisclosed and inquiries are being conducted to try and establish what led to the disaster. The injured passengers are also reported to be in critical condition and the officials are still working on updating the casualties in the following hours.

Critical Situation

It was reported that the situation at the crash site remains tense and complicated as the emergency crews remain at the scene. Due to the difficult conditions, the activity of evacuating people is still challenging but our goal remains clear – to save as many people as possible and help those who became victims of this tragedy.

This was a sad incident that should remind everyone on the road safety, especially in areas with incline to accidents like hilly areas of Uttarakhand.
