At least three persons died, and around 40 are missing after cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh. The landslides, triggered by heavy rains this week, have washed away houses and roads in the region that had already been fraying under pressure from long-term erosion. The Beas River in Himachal Pradesh overflowed due to the rains, damaging a stretch of Chandigarh-Manali National Highway. The Himachal CM has called an emergency meeting to take stock of the situation and teams from NDRF, ITBP along with police have rescued 10 out of them.
